What is being yourself? — Empowerment
There’s a lot of messages out there on how to be yourself. I think it’s the millennial thing to be yourself and follow your dreams, to be more self centred more . I think one of the most common message that associated with being yourself is about being fearless and courageous. But feels like almost making an effort while in my opinion it’s not much about that and it is almost effortless. Another message we get a lot about being more self centred and toned in to your needs.
As an artist and software engineer who is working on creating my own product I feel myself often looking at other products and assess them. Once I approach others like each product has something to offer and it has good qualities to it, then I feel less fearful to carry on being creative. However once I start judging I almost feel like paralyzed to come up with anything creative and end up settling for the average which what everyone agrees on. We might end up ‘settling for beige’ as my good friend would describe it as beige is the color that is most common in the fashion industry which everyone can wear.
From my insight what is being yourself is all about less judging others; it’s exactly like giving others always a chance. A chance to hear their opinion, that you believe in them, that you think from all your heart and mind they are already valid and worthy there’s nothing they need to prove. When you approach from less self centred but rather from lack of judgement you will just bring your whole self to everything you do and how you’re judged isn’t relevant to you at all. It’s not like “people will always like me” but judgements just simply won’t get on the way.
When you look at the world from that perspective there’s not a chance that you won’t be your absolute full self naturally. You are no judging others and you are not afraid that others will judge you so you are your authentic self, yourself.
Happy new year
